To continue providing the best experience for our author community, as of April 22nd, 2026, we’re introducing a few updates to our Barnes & Noble Press policies. These changes are designed to protect independent authors as well as maintain the quality of the content on our platform.
Minimum Retail Price for Printed Books
Starting April 22nd, 2026, our platform will not allow the creation of new listings for less than $14.99. If you have any titles retailing for less than $14.99 on May 14th, 2026, we will begin removing those listings from sale. To avoid your projects being removed, you can change the price at any time by logging in to your Barnes & Noble Press account and updating your project’s price.
New Title Limit
Starting May 14th, 2026, if you have over 100 titles listed on a single Barnes & Noble Press account, we may remove titles from sale at our discretion to bring your account in line with the 100-title limit. You also have the option of removing titles yourself at any time by logging into your Barnes & Noble Press account and taking the project off sale.
Each title can be available in both print and digital format and count as one of the 100 titles you can publish.
Original Content Only
Barnes & Noble Press will no longer allow public domain items to be sold on our platform. Barnes & Noble Press was established to publish and promote independent authors, and this change is intended to support this ideal.
Going forward, public domain titles that are posted to Barnes & Noble Press will be immediately removed. Accounts continuing to post out-of-copyright public domain items may be closed and all account content removed from our site.
