What if my page count or trim size changes after downloading the template?
Remember that this template was specifically built for the trim size and page count you supplied. If updates were made to your page count or trim size, the original template will no longer match. Instead, you must return to the B&N Press Cover Template Tool webpage, revise the trim size and page count, and download the new template.
Can I adjust elements on the template once it is downloaded?
DO NOT move or reposition any of the elements on the template. The front cover, spine and back cover have been precisely measured from the information provided in the B&N Press Cover Template Tool. These exact specifications are required to produce your cover successfully and consistently. If any element is shifted, even slightly, this will affect the cover on the printed book.
What do I do with the finalized cover template?
When the cover is completed and you are satisfied it is the final version, first save it as a PDF. Then, as you build your print book, you will first upload the interior PDF followed by the cover PDF. Please note that your cover PDF should only include the full cover image and not any white trim or dead space from when you designed the cover in the template.
What will the template zip file include?
The template zip file will include separate Front cover and Back cover templates (not including spine) as well as a Full cover template (including spine). Publishers must choose to design either the separate Front cover with separate Back cover, or the Full cover template.
